A Career Day with an Earth-Moving Test Drive

As a former youth motivational speaker, I’ve presented for hundreds of high school career days, but never one that came with a test drive. However, facing an impeding labor shortage in the road construction industry that could potentially devastate the state’s economy, high schools in Oklahoma are pulling out the big guns, or in this case ‘the big tractors’, and letting testosterone-rich teens hop on board and picture themselves moving mountains (or soybean fields) of dirt. Click here to read a story that reveals a brilliant strategy for introducing young men and women to a career they may otherwise have never considered.

    Cool job tryouts:
    1. Astronaut – spend the day floating around in the International Space Station
    2. President of the United States – launch nuclear attacks against foreign countries or Stinky McGraw who tormented you in 5th Grade.
    3. Donald Trump – fire anybody you want while enjoying premium grade hair products

    Bad job tryouts:
    1. Paris Hilton’s mom – fight to keep your lunch down when you hear of your spoiled daughter’s latest escapade.
    2. Elephant Waste Removal special – keep telling yourself that with all this manure there must be a pony in there somewhere.
    3. Sewer Diver in Mexico City – I’m not making this up.

I\’m not a commenter to blogs in general, but your article on A Career Day with an Earth-Moving Test Drive really caught my eye. I had been looking for information on Gray Hair on Ask.com, and was intrigued by the link to here. Good job!
