His brilliant front-page article of Sunday’s Denver Post Perspective section titled “Generation Why” screams “Stop spending my money before I even have a chance to earn it!” In this insightful article, 22-year-old journalist T.J. Wihera is offering, what many would think, is a dissenting opinion to those of his generation, begging politicians to rethink their short-sighted stimulus remedy to our economic crisis and its impact on the future.
Rather than simply go-with-the-flow of flag-waving youthful Obama supporters, Wihera is justifiably concerned with the direction our government is going when it comes to writing in red ink. Take off your baby-boomer or Gen X glasses and see this crisis through the lens of an intelligent, articulate, rational young man.
You know, I don’t always agree with Wihera, but I always find his insights and perspective eye opening and thought provoking. Just when you think you have Generation Why figured out, he stirs things up and forces you to stop painting with a broad brush. That’s why T.J. Wihera is on my staff contributing as a blogger and a content-creator.

Welcome to the canteen! I graduated from C.U. in 1986 at the ripe old age of 36. I am now facing forced retirement at the ripe old age of 59; a victim of our depression. Sorry you get to shoulder the load although your prospects are grim. ‘Tis a nasty game that you and your generation will play. The way I see it is that you must re-write the rulebook. Don’t play by the current rulebook. Don’t work for wages. Don’t buy on credit. Don’t even think of trying to buy into the “American Dream.” The fact is that you are well and truly screwed. There is no government money that is yours. The minute that you give it up as any form of taxation; it is no longer yours. To think otherwise is delusional. I have paid taxes for over 40 years; and will be fortunate if I get to collect any Social Security funds three years hence. Good Luck! You WILL need it.
